"Really good content is content that changes not just people’s minds, but something in the world, and creates social change in the world." Those are bold words from Jane Pratt, editor-in-chief of xoJane and founder of Sassy and Jane magazines, and for those who know her it’s no wonder she’s been nominated to Folio’s annual list of the Most Influential Women in Media in the category of Entrepreneur.

She is joined by Lauren Indvik, editor-in-chief of Fashionista, one of the largest independent fashion magazines in the world, in the Rising Star category - and dozens of other women in media. It’s a distinguished list of women driving the agenda for the industry and in their companies—and women who are innovating in new ways and guiding their businesses into new markets.

The list was chosen from submissions sent in by their peers and celebrates the creativity and accomplishments of women in media. You can see the full list here.

Congratulations Jane and Lauren! The winners will be honored on October 1, 2014 at the Folio Top Women in Media Luncheon in New York.
